Sailing is a fantastic sport and offers many different things to many different people.

For those that decide to race at a high level Coaching has been, and always will be, the most efficient way to enrich and speed up individuals or teams learning potential. Sailing is an expensive and complicated sport which can be frustrating at times.

Whilst at first the (extra) initial investment in a coach may seem to be hard to justify, the investment can pay off many times over in all sorts of ways depending on your situation. The important thing is picking the right coach.

For those athletes that embark on an Olympic campaign, a top coach is essential, and Governing bodies who understand this provide the funding to do this as a matter of course. Unfortunately many don't know this, or think they know the best coach for you, and this is where you need to get creative. You definately do not want to be in a situation where you know the coach is not what you need, but do nothing about it.

Ian has a background in Engineering, Sailmaking, Boat Building and as a accomplished racer, as well as 20 odd years coaching and being trained as a coach. He is an all round coach at the highest level and a specialist in a number of areas.

He has a reputation as an "impact" coach as well. So if you have a limited period to sort things out, He's your man. Ain't no mountain high enough, aint no river wide enough... you get the idea.
